Safeway Select Apricot Preserves - Unusual Cap Instruction

Safeway is a supermarket conglomerate. Sort-of. They have been in the Southern California area for decades. Yet, the parent company or it's subsidiaries have been bought and sold so many times that I've lost track (and count) of what they sell, or used to sell . . .

Color me surprised when I looked at the cap on my Safeway Select Apricot Preserves told me to 

"SHAKE WELL"

Read Cap Carefully

I ate some of these preserves on toast this morning and did not "SHAKE WELL". For the life of me I could not detect a taste difference.
